C LEAGUE SEMIFINALS - GAME 1

Last night saw the C Laegue semi finals get underway to determine who would be this years finalists.

SF Game 1 - Lions 4 vs Hawks 2

Game 1 would see the underdogs Hawks pit themselves against the favorites Lions. The Lions had dominated all 5 games throughout the season so it would take a huge effort and a bit of luck for the Hawks to have success in there 1st ever playoff game.

1st Period
Both teams started with a bit of nerves but it would be the Lions settling early to see #10 Mark Tucker put them ahead 1 - 0. They would continue there good work with #3 Russell Shepherd scoring to see the Lions end the period 2 - 0 , advantage Lions.

2nd Period 
Lions started the period with a 2 goal advantage but it would be the Hawks that would hit back to get themselves on the scoreboard.Hawks #86 Geoff Combs scored a topshelf blinder to register his teams 1st ever playoff goal and get his team back into the contest. Lions #10 Mark Tucker would restore the lions two goal advantage but the Hawks would finish strong with #21 Ben Melville scoring late to see the Lions take a 3 - 2 advantage into the 3rd period.

3rd Period
Would the enthusiasm of the Hawks or the experience of the Lions win out in the 3rd period to see there respective team into the C League final.
With the play going back and forth in the 3rd neither team cementing 
the advantage it fell to the Lions #88 Tom Cloonan's late goal to see his team win there way through to this years final. A valiant effort from the Hawks fell just short to the Lions progress through the the finals as favorites.
